Workshops & Trainings

An important function of the Multicultural Resource Center is to provide educational trainings and workshops for faculty, staff and students. In most cases, trainings and workshops are offered by request. This way we can carefully construct them to meet the specific needs of the given department, office, or group of students. The MRC also collaborates with other offices such as the Ombusperson and Oberlin College Dialogue Center to provide workshops. Examples of these kinds of educational moments include, but are not limited to:

  • Anti-Oppression and Sexual/Dating Violence Workshops with Norma Timbang.

  • Oberlin College Dialogue Center's Social Justice Institute for select first-year students as guest facilitators.

  • Social justice workshops for the A.L.L.I.E.S. Program of the Center for Service and Learning.

  • Student Senate workshop on safe space issues.

  • LGBTQ Issues and Athletics workshop for Athletics Department coaches and professional staff.

  • Annual August day long training on diversity and multicultural issues and concerns for new and returning RAs in the Department of Residential Education.

  • Diversity workshop for the community partners of the Center for Service and Learning.

  • Putting the “I” in the Middle of RacIsm workshop for student groups.

  • Understanding the Intersections of Oppression.

  • LGBT Organizing and Activism Workshop with Karen Krahulik.

  • Young Alumni Career Path Workshop
